Founder of URC Group

Shri U.R. Chinnusamy started out as a small contractor undertaking and supervising the construction of irrigation systems. An early entrant in the field of construction, he observed the challenges and pitfalls faced by a nation building a new future.

He established URC Constructions in the mid 50s and led from the front, quickly establishing the company’s and leadership’s reputation as fair, effective, and community-oriented. A philanthropist, he worked tirelessly toward community development and social empowerment. He was responsible for many noteworthy achievements in the Erode region, such as the KVIT Trust that today runs many schools and colleges.

Nearly 70 years later, the company is today a symbol of his ideals, his values and the integrity he brought to the business of construction. His legacy has been carried forward, and URC Construction continues to make a mark and strengthen development in India.

1956
Founded in 1956 with construction of dams, canals and hydroelectric power plants to support the boosting of agriculture and irrigation.

1970
Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), government colleges & hospitals, addressing housing and access deficits.

1980
Agricultural processing house & factories to support the growing agriculture export sector.

1990
Incorporated as a Private Limited company and ventured into construction of Tank Farms, Spinning and Mills as these industries grew.

2000
Universities, Hospitals, 5 star Hotels, Tech parks, Oil & Gas Projects with the uptick of globalisation.

2010
Urban infrastructure and large infrastructure projects like metros & airports, powering movement in key cities.

2020
Data Centres & Design-Build Projects in all sectors, starting a separate design division for the specialized HVAC required.

2022
Continuing with major infrastructure properties with EPC mode for faster execution, harnessing the expertise of over 6 decades with a future-forward outlook.
